Clobber also poked fun at everything from text messaging to motivational business seminars, from cruise ship clientele to police public safety campaigns. Objecting to rhyming messages such as “click it or ticket,” he proposed rhymes for police, such as “Smile, don’t racial profile!”

His partner-in-comedy, Diane Jean, got chuckles from male and female audience members alike with her humorous shtick on hot flashes, dating, and a trip to the blood bank. “They asked, `Have you ever traded sex for money,” she recalled. “That’s kind of a general question…does dinner count?”

Several routines touched on today’s tough economic times. “My friends made me watch their house while they were away,” Jean jested, then indicated she found a way to make money on the deal. “But it was a lot of work putting their home on the market!”

Sean Wherley served up a comedy routine that included his suggestion to help people get jobs. “When someone dies, I think their obituary should be required to list where they worked,” he quipped.

Guest headliner Kurt Swann, who has performed at comedy clubs including Chicago and L.A. closed the show with a hilarious routine that including his observations on the downside of ultra-quiet energy-efficient vehicle: “Nobody’s gonna go to a NASCAR race if they have electric cars,” he observed.

COMEDY CLUB ACT OPENS TO FULL HOUSE IN LA MESA

July 18, 2010 (La Mesa) – Brew-Ha-Ha’s first weekly comedy show upstairs at Gio Bistro and Wine Bar in La Mesa opened to a sold-out crowd last Sunday night. The act proved a rollicking success—artfully blending universally funny jokes with some East County-oriented punch lines.   Brew Ha Ha is the remedy for the blues--serving up light-hearted relief from tough times in an intimate yet friendly atmosphere with palate-pleasing food at Gio's.

Comedian Chris Clobber jested about performing in an “attic” (actually an open loft above the bar). “Let’s have some fun,” said Clobber, who has done stints for the USO and also leads a comedy tour at the San Diego Zoo. He then performed animal sound imitations including a trumpeting elephant to startle patrons in the bar below.
